On Posting...

Hi All,
I've been using these forums for a few months now, and just today actually helped out someone else! Thanks to all you all who brought me along this far!

I'm wondering what the opinions are out there about how to respond to posting seeking assistance. I think I speak for us all when I say a bit about the state of mind we are in when we turn to forums for help: desparate, frustrated, and just a little bit stressed out.

So, do you respond with specific snippets to show 'how to' or just keep it general with a nudge in the right direction?

Personally, I'll never turn away from exact info, but I have to admit that when the aggravation level is spiking, I sometimes post before I really need to. IOW, the act posting begging for help is calming and I end up finding the answer before the post even shows up. Other times, though, I really am stumped after banging my head against a problem for some time.

Thoughts?

RTFM!
MVPHi,

sometimes I fire up webmatrix, try something out and post the code (with appropriate tagsview post 98605). Sometimes I try to give some advice or give my own opinion when the OP asks for it. I also try to provide meaningfull links that can help the OP out in his/her quest.

Grz, Kris.
